Dr Paul Williams
Dr Paul Williams was appointed Division President, MAXIMUS UK, in June 2018. Prior to that role, he served as Managing Director, UK Health Services.
Having graduated from Leeds Medical School in 1987, Dr Williams became a GP in 1992 and remains a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners. Since then, Dr Williams has held a number of Occupational Medicine roles for private and public sector organisations.
In 2001 his interest in the effects of health on work and work on health led him to retrain as a specialist in Occupational Medicine. In his current role as Division President, Dr Williams leads a workforce of almost 4,000 colleagues to deliver vital work, health and employment related services that help more than 2 million people each year.
As one of the most senior clinicians across the global MAXIMUS business, Dr Williams is no stranger to large, complex, public sector contracts. In 2015 he helped the business to deliver the Health Assessment Advisory Service on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions, before going on to lead the contract.
Dr Williams is a Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and former President of the Society of Occupational Medicine. Earlier this year Dr Williams featured in The BMJ to talk about his passions and share clinical insights from across his career.
He continues to teach postgraduate students in Occupational Medicine for Manchester University.
