Maximus UK’s National Employer Engagement Manager, Claire Lane was interviewed by HR News about how businesses can maximise the current recruitment market. 

The most recent figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show there are 695,000 fewer people in work in August compared to the start of the COVID-19 crisis in March. Many high-quality workers will be looking to transfer into industries less impacted by the virus and recruiters need to adapt their approach to reach and attract this new pool of talent. 

The pandemic has hit the retail and hospitality sectors hard, but roles in the care and logistics sectors have increased significantly. These roles are being offered to people that can demonstrate their transferable soft skills, the right attitude to work and ability to train on the job. 

These employees will help businesses come at issues from different perspectives, helping to drive innovation, and in these changing times they could be vital to success.
